Visit Atlantic Avenue for Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, Free Events, Treats, and Santa

 

Brooklyn, NY– Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation (AALDC) will host their annual holiday events this week! Every year, AALDC welcomes the community to come out and enjoy the festivities. On Thursday, December 5th from 6-8pm, the community is invited to attend the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Party. The event is free to the public and will take place at the St. Cyril of Turov Belarusian Church, located at 401 Atlantic Avenue.

The Tree Lighting Party will be kicked off with the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony officiated by New York Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon and Council Member Stephen T. Levin at 6pm sharp. All in attendance can get into the holiday spirit and enjoy live performances from local public schools, including P.S. 38, P.S. 133, International Charter School of New York, P.S. 8, P.S. 261 and Brooklyn High School of the Arts. Since Christmas is a couple of weeks away, Santa Claus will make an appearance and greet the community. Attendees will dance to the latest tunes provided by DJ Tyler B of Infinity Music Entertainment. This event is open to the public for all to enjoy.

Following the live musical performances, attendees will be able to enjoy refreshments and complimentary food donated by some of our local Atlantic Avenue Merchants such as Brado Thin Crust Pizza, Sahadi’s, Trader Joe’s,The Soul Spot Restaurant, Hollow Nickel and Moon Cafe.

The holiday fun on Atlantic Avenue continues as the AALDC invites everyone to enjoy the avenue as there will be special deals and promotions from local businesses as part of the Shop & Dine Promotion. Starting December 1st-15th, Atlantic Avenue merchants will offer 10% off selected items and/or other special deals within their businesses for any gift ideas for family and friends. As the festive windows decorate the avenue, patrons will be able to enjoy AALDC’s ‘Walk the Windows’ event on Saturday, December 7th. Participating Atlantic Avenue businesses will host in-store holiday themed events & offers from 11am-7pm. They will have red balloons within their storefront to indicate they’re a part of the event. From 11:30am-3:30pm, AALDC will have a DJ Frank Posa of Powerhouse Entertainment, live performances, $1 sweet treats, and Santa at the Belarusian Church, 401 Atlantic Avenue.
