The 45th Annual Atlantic Antic™ Festival Brought Out Thousands to Celebrate Tradition, Family Fun, and Food

Brooklyn, New York – October 15, 2019 The largest and oldest street festival in Brooklyn, the Annual Atlantic Antic™ Festival, produced by the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation (AALDC) took place on a breezy fall day on September 29, 2019. This year’s festival celebrated 45 years in existence. The mile- long festival through neighborhoods Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, and Downtown Brooklyn welcomed all to partake in the festivities.

With hundreds of vendors and Atlantic Avenue merchants, there was something for everyone to love such as southern food favorites and handmade products. New additions and activities within the Kids Zone, sponsored by Maimonides Children’s Hospital was a treat for the kids as they enjoyed bounce houses, pony rides, soccer, basketball, gymnastics, a beyblade competition, and arts & crafts.

The 12 live entertainment stages featured performances from local musicians and acts. On the Atlantic Antic™ Main Stage, the Amber-Aba Orchestra featuring Belly Dancers, a long standing tradition of the festival, had attendees clapping and cheering. The LASEEN Dream Fund presented performances by the New York Arabic Orchestra, Dabka Team Dancers, and Magd Alsaedah. The  Atlantic Antic™ Community Stage, sponsored by CityMD, included performances by Brooklyn Ballet and Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra. The Eighth Annual Ambassador Award was presented to CEO and YWCA President Martha Kamber on this year’s Atlantic Antic™ Community Stage in recognition for her outstanding achievements of helping low-income women and domestic violence survivors. Many elected officials attended the festival to show support and speak on the stage such as Assembly Members Walter T. Mosley and Jo Anne Simon, Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, NYC Mayor’s Office Chief of Staff Lincoln Restler, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez and Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams.
