‘The 44th Annual Atlantic Antic™ Festival Paves the Way for ‘The Pulse of Brooklyn’ Atlantic Avenue Merchant Promotion from October 1 to 14
Brooklyn, New York October 4, 2018– For the 44th year in a row, the largest and oldest street festival, the Atlantic Antic™ returned to Brooklyn on September 23rd, 2018 from 12-6pm. Hundreds of thousands of people gathered to partake in the beloved festival that spans the neighborhoods of Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, and Downtown Brooklyn.
Over 100 local merchants and over 500 vendors participated this year, making the 44th Annual Atlantic Antic™ Festival a success. There was something for everyone as there were a variety of products such as international cuisines, handmade jewelry, and more. For the second year, the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation (AALDC) partnered with Chef One Foods in hosting their 15th Annual Dumpling Eating Contest. Festival attendees swarmed the Atlantic Antic™ Main Stage to watch amateur and professional eaters enjoy dumplings in 2 minutes. This year’s male winner David Brunelli A.K.A. “Tiger Wings and Things” ate 74 dumplings while female winner Molly Schuyler ate 69 dumplings.
The two live entertainment stages were filled with performances from local musicians and acts. There were live performances from Batala New York Drum Performance, The Amber-Aba Orchestra featuring Belly Dancers, and more.
The action on Atlantic Avenue does not stop after the Atlantic Antic™. AALDC invites everyone to Atlantic Avenue from October 1st to 14th to come back for shopping, dining, and more exploring. There will be special giveaways and offerings provided by a number of Atlantic Avenue local merchants as part of ‘The Pulse of Brooklyn Post- Antic Promotion.’ To find out  more details on the offers, please visit
 AALDC has partnered with Arts Gowanus, a nonprofit arts organization, to include Atlantic Avenue Merchant storefront locations in the 2018 Gowanus Open Studios which will be held from October 20-21, 2018. The Seventh Annual Atlantic Avenue Ambassador Award was presented to New York Senator Velmanette Montgomery on the Atlantic Antic™ Main Stage in recognition to her commitment to providing the youth with the proper knowledge on primary and mental health within their school. Many elected officials and candidates running for office graced the stage to greet the crowd such as Public Advocate Letitia James, New York Senator Brian Kavanaugh, Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, and Council Member Brad Lander.
