LDC Announces Appointment of Interim Executive Director

Today, the board of the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation announced the appointment of Howard Kolins as Interim Executive Director.

Mr. Kolins has been a board member of the Boerum Hill Association since 2005 and has been President of the BHA since 2009. During that time, he has chair or co-chaired five House Tours, rallied opposition to the expansion of the House of Detention and continues to lead community opposition to the current plans and led the opposition to the 80 Flatbush development. Working with our board members, we were able to preserve the charm of Boerum Hill through rezoning, advocated for the renovation of the 16 Sycamores Playground and recently expanded our Historic District.

Mr. Kolins has been a resident of Boerum Hill for 35 years. He is an experienced live event producer after a decade as Executive Producer of the “Radio City Christmas Spectacular” who has been producing corporate events, galas and private concerts for the past 15 years under his own banner.

Using these skills, he is proud to represent and support his community in new ways in challenging times. “I am thrilled to represent the very avenue I’ve traversed so many times when I dine and shop.”

“We are extremely fortunate to have Howard join the LDC in this difficult time,” said Nat Rubin, AALDC President. “As a long-time member of our community, he is someone we know will have the vision, passion and foresight to create and continue our community-minded efforts.”
