46th Annual Atlantic Antic Festival 2021 Update Due to COVID-19 Pandemic

Brooklyn, New York – May 28, 2020 – The Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation (AALDC) had planned to present the 46th Annual Atlantic Antic Festival on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we are currently unable to proceed with planning, therefore the application process is suspended. We will be discussing alternative plans for a reimagined Antic and evaluating the City’s reopening progress over the next weeks and months. Our primary goal is the careful consideration of the participants and attendees’ health and safety. When the AALDC defines the path forward, it will be announced to the public.

“We look forward to continuing the tradition of celebrating Brooklyn,” said AALDC President, Nat S. Rubin, The Atlantic Antic is the oldest and largest street festival in our borough. Reflecting the businesses and restaurants both on the Avenue and throughout Brooklyn, for more than 40 years it has brought together folks and families through a mix of fun, food, creativity and community.”

The AALDC realizes there are many businesses and people in need right now. We are working on helping businesses on Atlantic Avenue. Some of our Atlantic Avenue small businesses have created their own GoFundMe pages to support their staff and we encourage you to visit those pages that have been consolidated by our sister organization the Atlantic Avenue BID. However, many of our other businesses also need your support.  We are hoping to raise enough money to help these businesses directly. We also want to be sure that when we all reach a “new normal”  the AALDC will be back in a strong financial position to continue its work of promoting Atlantic Avenue businesses and their connections to the community.

As an immediate response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, AALDC created a Community Resources Page and Community Resources Fund. The Community Resources Page helps to provide easily accessible information and support to all community members. This page includes information on current local business hours/offerings, resources for families, online programming for children (including free access to select scholarship partners), and general health and safety tips. The AALDC’s Community Resources Fund supports local Atlantic Avenue businesses from 4th Avenue to Hicks Street who were forced to close their doors due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic and are experiencing financial hardships.
