The Atlantic Avenue ArtWalk

The Atlantic Avenue ArtWalk is a weekend long, self-guided tour of open artist studios and area exhibitions, a range of public art projects, special events, with local merchants hosting a range of artwork and events. ArtWalk provides a relaxed setting for dialogue, collecting, and for artists to discuss current bodies of work, while offering viewers a glimpse into the creation process.
ArtWalk includes artists across all media, participatory events, film, public art, live music, and activities for families and children of all ages. Visitors can enjoy exhibits, view and buy work, meet the artists and sample the Avenue’s restaurants, shops and bars at their own pace. To add to the weekend festivities, local businesses host receptions while area restaurants and bars offer special rates to ArtWalkers throughout the weekend.
The Atlantic Antic 2010

The Atlantic Antic, a true Brooklyn institution, spans 10 blocks – from Hicks Street to Fourth Avenue – passing through three beautiful Brooklyn brownstone neighborhoods, making the festival one of the largest in the city. Unique to this community festival is the number of participating local merchants, artisans, musical acts, and not for profits bringing together a fabulous array of authentic Brooklyn food, festivities, and fun on one mile of Atlantic Avenue.

The Holiday Promotion
Held in the Beginning of December
The annual Atlantic Avenue Holiday Window Design Competition and Tree Lighting Ceremony happens every year in the beginning of December. Awards, in various categories, are given to merchants for the aesthetic design of their store windows. Celebrity judges walk the Avenue to determine these awards, which are announced at the Tree Lighting Ceremony. This is a popular holiday event bringing people together from the neighborhoods of Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Downtown Brooklyn and Boerum Hill along and around the stretch of Atlantic Avenue running from Hicks Street to Fourth Avenue. The Tree Lighting Ceremony is free and open to the public with complimentary holiday treats provided by local Atlantic Avenue restaurants and shops. Atlantic Avenue's Tree Lighting Ceremony and activities feature choral performance by area students and other children's musical performances.
