Atlantic Avenue Concludes its Holiday Season with Special Savings and Events for All

Brooklyn, New York-December 14, 2017– As the wintry season continues, the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation (AALDC) celebrated with their annual holiday events along Atlantic Avenue between 4th Avenue to the breathtaking waterfront. From shopping to dining and everything in between, Atlantic Avenue was filled with special events & offers from local businesses while Santa strolled along during the ‘Walk the Windows’ event.

Along with New York City experiencing its first snowfall of the season on Saturday, December 9th, 2017, patrons were able to spend a day traveling through Atlantic Avenue enjoying free holiday-themed events from merchants and spectacular outdoor performances by the Atlantic Avenue Official Holiday Tree. Free events included #germfree giveaway bags and snacks from CityMD at 457 Atlantic Avenue, Holiday Sing-along from Gumbo at 493 Atlantic Avenue and DIY all natural lip balm workshop from Earth Speaks at 139 Atlantic Avenue. Santa kept the holiday spirit merry and bright throughout the day as Falun Dafa and FogoAzul brought drumming performances to the avenue.

Walk the Windows visitors were also able to view festive decorated windows from Atlantic Avenue merchants. This year’s Annual Atlantic Avenue Holiday Window Judging Competition took place on November 29th with five local judges traveling along the avenue to choose this year’s winners.This year’s judges were Albert Chau, owner of Grumpy Bert Art Gallery, Roma Karas, Artist & Illustrator, Aaron Meshon, Artist & Illustrator, Donald Odell, Director of Brand Product Management at Calvin Klein and Debra Ziss, Artist & Illustrator. This year’s awards went to First Place, Arco New York located at 385 Atlantic Avenue, Second Place, Hunting with Jake located at 380 Atlantic Avenue and Third Place, Woolyn, located at 105 Atlantic Avenue. Honorable Mentions were given to Collier West located at 377A Atlantic Avenue an Collyer’s Mansion located at 179 Atlantic Avenue.

Atlantic Avenue’s 2017 Window winners were announced during the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Party on December 1st. Families, community leaders and more gathered at St. Cyril Belarusian Church from 6-8pm for a night filled with performances from local public schools, sponsor giveaways & prizes and a visit from the jolly old man in red, Santa Claus. Refreshments and small bites, all donated from local Atlantic Avenue business, were served to the guests as they enjoying a family dance party from DJ Frank Posa..

AALDC celebrates its Annual Holiday Toy Drive with supporting Providence Houses, local families living in homeless shelters. The AALDC also partnered with Councilman Stephen Levin for his Annual Holiday Toy Drive. Toy Donations will be given to children living in the Gowanus, Wyckoff and Warren House. Additional donations can be dropped off at Councilman Levin’s office located at 410 Atlantic Avenue until December 16th.
